Halcyon Universe Spice & Content Guide

As an author, I've done a lot of experimenting with the Halcyon Universe books. This series has been a fun way to try out different spice levels and gender pairings.

As a reader, I'm flexible. I'll devour anything, no matter the spice level or gender of the MCs. But I know that's not the case for everybody. I encourage everyone to read at their own comfort level, and that's why I'm creating this "spice guide" for new readers to reference.

All of my currently published books, spicy and unspicy alike, are intended for an adult (18+) audience.

🚫No spice:

Adrift in Starlight (Standalone)

• No on-page sex scenes. Kissing and implied closed-door scenes only.

• Main characters are F (asexual, biromantic) and NB (transfemme, pansexual).

• Other content notes include: Strong language, parental abuse of an adult child, sex work (non-graphic), use of hallucinogenic substances and/or alcohol, brief mention of gender dysphoria, mentions of (past) suicide of a minor character, medical trauma/invasive procedures done without consent

The Taste of Lies (Dragon-Touched Sequence #3)

• No on-page sex scenes. Kissing, brief mention of past sexual relationship without details.

• Main characters are F (aromantic, bisexual), M (pansexual), and M (transmasc, bisexual). Romance subplot is M/M

• Other content notes include: Domestic abuse (implied, off-page, and/or threatened), sexual assault (implied, off-page, and/or threatened), (past) suicide, acts of terrorism, child endangerment, strong language, violence and character death

Grandma & Grandma’s Waystation Cafe (Standalone short story)

• No on-page sex scenes. No romance.

• Main characters are F (asexual) and F (asexual) in a queerplatonic relationship.

• Other content notes include: mild peril, explosions, and strong language.

🌶️Low to medium heat:

Petrichor Blooms (Dragon-Touched Sequence #1)

• One on-page sex scene, in the final chapter. Mediumly descriptive (focuses on emotions).

• Main characters are F (bisexual) and F (lesbian).

• Other content notes include: Strong language, bullying, genetic modification performed on children, past child/baby death

The Invisible Bright (Dragon-Touched Sequence #2)

• On-page sex scene in chapter 14. Mediumly descriptive (focuses on emotions). Another on-page sex scene will appear in Mindi’s Version in an additional deleted-scene chapter (coming soon!)

• Main characters are M (demisexual) and F (sex-favorable asexual)

• Content notes include: Strong language, character death (off-page), adoption trauma 

🌶️🌶️🌶️High heat:

The Black Sands of Hades (Standalone)

• Several descriptive on-page sex scenes including F/F, F/M, and F/F/M pairings

• Main characters are F (bisexual), F (bisexual), M (bisexual) ending in a polyamorous relationship.

• Other content notes include: Violence, blood consumption, sexual assault (past), character trauma/PTSD, stalking and emotional abuse, discussion of past suicidal thoughts/attempt, some mild body horror, wild animal death, recreational drug and alcohol use, strong language

Tempted By Celestial Bodies (short story: The Twelfth Ambassador)

• Descriptive on-page sex scene 

• Main characters are F (bisexual) and alien M (heterosexual).

• Other content notes include: Colonialism, insects (non-horror context), violent conflict with wildlife, heights, live burial (brief, non-POV), difficult parental relationship

Tempted By Monstrous Lovers (short story: Her Velociraptor Librarian)

• Descriptive on-page sex scene

• Main characters are F (lesbian) and velociraptor F (lesbian)

• Other content notes include: Brief confinement/claustrophobia, panic attack, bullying (off-page), homophobia (off-page), destruction of egg clutch (off-page)
